Birthday lunch with Bernard at KILO AT PACT. When I first walk in to the minimalist space of this place, I felt as though I've stumbled onto one of the best-kept secrets along Orchard Road. KILO AT PACT is an interesting store that houses 3 things under one roof - a hairdresser, a boutique and a restaurant.
For starters, we ordered the Baby Eggplant in donburi sauce, marscapone cheese and tempura flakes. This dish is a must order! The most mismatched combination tasted so good together, the cheese added a twist to the dish and the eggplants were very fresh and perfectly grilled.
Our first main course was the Spaghetti tossed with cod roe, spring onions and shoyu. This dish was simple and very tasty! This reminded me very much of Five & Dime's Mentaiko pasta which in my opinion is much better. Super bias opinion because i'm not a fan of spring onions and there were tons of it (bleh)
Last main course was my absolute favourite, Beef short ribs rice bowl served with Japanese rice, sweet corn, radish, sugar peas and wasabi sprouts. The short ribs was cooked to the right degree of doneness and literally melts in your mouth.... Even the rice was yummy!!!
But well I think I genuinely enjoyed my food THAT much (all the time) because of the loveliest dining partner, thank you for ALWAYS wanting the best for me even when it comes to food.
I'll blog abt #2 of my birthday in the next post :-) looking forward to start work tmr!
