Supply & Demand (lunch date)

A rare lunch date with my best friend :-) Been crazy busy with revision for my upcoming exam and thus the lack of updates!

Who needs bacon when you have prosciutto di parma?! I'm head over heels with anything that has got to do with parma ham... completely sold by this pizza. The ordinary pasta (amatriciana) was better than expected but then again, the company was all that mattered. Our on-going conversations (which I wish could last forever but exams.. sigh) are proof that good food brings people together but great company keeps them there. Thanks b for the lunch as always x

Pardon me while I focus on my exams and less on this space!

Paddy Hills

Bernard and I have been really into exploring new places especially after obtaining my driver's license since we get to travel to super ulu places and Paddy Hills is one of these places! This place is superb... beautiful interior (one of my favourites for a cafe), great variety of dishes on the menu and super instagram worthy hahahaha!

The pinkish lemonade was super refreshing and one of the best thing I've tasted after a 45 minutes wait lul, perfect start to lunch.

So my friend recommended that I should try the berry ricotta hotcakes and I was super skeptical about it because the last time I had something similar was at Strangers Reunion and it was so bad?! It only look really pretty because it was so colourful and beautifully plated but I'm so so so happy to say that the one I had at Paddy Hill was so nice!! It was not just nice to look at but tasted so good as well :') super crispy at the sides while fluffy on the inside, just the way I like it. Definitely surpassed both our expectations #noragrets!

Kimchi fried rice for $20, if my mum came with me she'd probably skin me cause she can cook this dish better (and my mother isn't even one who steps into the kitchen btw but when it comes to kimchi fried rice, she's a culinary prowess). I liked this dish though, the steak was cooked to perfection and the sous vide egg + kimchi really complemented the fried rice.

I'm coming back to try the entire menu (I'M NOT KIDDING! Bernard stared at me when I said so, hahaha I can kiss my London savings goodbye just to chill here every weekend). This place is worth the 45 mins wait, I simply love it! This is going to be my new favourite cafe I will revisit over and over again (Bernard and friends, pls take note ^_^)

FINALLY FRIDAY and I'm drowning in my first assignment of the term. Can't wait for the weekends!! We're going to watch the Men's Hockey Sea Games Finals yayers!

Oh and btw, new hair color! What do you guys think?

Tanuki Raw

BEST LUNCH DATE THIS YEAR yumzzzz! Tanuki Raw has the most affordable and best lunch sets in town area. I ordered the Truffle yakiniku don and as a beef lover, I must say this is almost perfect. A runny egg yolk over black angus short ribs for the price of $14.80.. what more can I ask for?? Bernard had the Chirashi don which is so worth it in my opinion? $17.80 for a wide array of sashimi.

Ok, I know. I sound like a food blogger. I'll stop here now, bye!

After School Adventures #3

It's back to school for Bernard and I since two weeks ago ~~ Almost every once a week after school, we'd take a break and go chill at some cafe.. Here's two that we visited over the past two weeks and also a slight continuation from my #afterschooladventures blog posts : )

Strangers Reunion (revisited)

We are definitely no stranger to this cafe having visited this place more than we should (their service seriously sux) but this time when we went, it was a whole different customer service experience. The carpark I usually park at (directly opposite) was closed and it was raining cats and dogs so we had to park rlly far and share an umbrella with our shoes all soaked... not a good start but I love how they made sure we were dry and etc before starting our meal. The girl serving us was super duber nice!!

I'm not a huge salmon fan but every time I visit Stranger's, I have to eat their house smoked salmon eggs benedict. Yes, it sounds like another typical cafe food dish but this one comes with feta cheese, walnut crumble, salad and sultana bread. They also don't have the unconventional hollandaise sauce and that's what makes this dish so super special - it's actually crafted hazelnut béarnaise!

Béarnaise sauce: Béarnaise sauce is a sauce made of clarified butter emulsified in egg yolks and white wine vinegar and flavored with herbs.

ok truth be told lar, I came here for the sole purpose of trying their berry ricotta hotcakes that all the pops bloggers are raving about and i'm so damm sad to say that IT SUCKS. I don't know why all the reviews are like "it's so good! you have to try it!!". It literally tasted like cake mixed topped off with beautiful berries, seeds and vanilla ice cream ~.~

One Man Coffee

I've heard so much about One Man, walked passed way too many times but finally decided to give it a try! I have to say their ham & cheese croissant and coffee did not disappoint. The atmosphere was chilled and laid back, literally my ideal definition of a perfect noon ^_^

Happy mid week!! eh no it's Thursday already, yasssss one day closer to Friday!!

Happy 50 months!

YAY! Heard of so many raves about SONS Bacaro (especially their super cheap and affordable lunch set) so after months of lusting after pictures on Instagram and blogs, we finally made a trip down (using our 50th monthsary as an excuse to travel all the way, pay ERP and search high and low for parking in CBD area ugh) to try just how good their mains are.

Our lunch situation was almost perfectly seriously?! The setting of this place was chic as expected but far more beautiful up close than in pictures.

So everything was great until the food came.. I didn't order from the lunch set menu as I wanted to try their Crab & Nduja pasta but look at the portion!! It was so tiny compared to Bernard's beef stew :-( Of course it did fill me and it was delicious but why am I so disappointed (sobs). I finished it in 3 mins.

But of course, all was made better when B suggested "let's go to town and have llao llao before studying" OKKKK YAYYYY! Somebody asked me on ask.fm "What makes you happy?" I replied with the pic above and said I can't rlly decide muahaha. Yes, llao llao is over rated but there is no denying that it's so damm good.

Went to study and then had dinner at Real food. Organic food. Yes, so not us and it wasn't that good.

but my day was great! and honestly, the past month has been the best and things have been getting so much better for the two of us.

Happy 50th monthsary to the one and only. This is so cringeworthy but thank you for loving me all these years. You've seen me at my worst, you know what a mess I can be, how hard things can get and still love me even when I least deserve it. Thank you for making me laugh when I'd almost forgotten how to and being there at every step of the way. You make me the happiest and I just want you to know that I appreciate you tons. Love you Bernard x
