Bangkok 2016 Part 5 - Roast

Pardon the short hiatus, been overwhelmed with endless amount of deadlines and submissions!

Back with yet another Bangkok post, this time about my all time favourite cafe - ROAST! Located at the new and super nice theCOMMONS building. Had the opportunity to visit this cafe on both trips, once in the day and once at night. Both times were lovely and amazing!

Occupying the top floor of the building, the new outlet still maintain it's minimalistic interior.

Food was perfect as always, this time we tried three new dishes - quesadillas, grilled corn and the hand cut fries. Can I just say that the fries was the best thing I ever had, i'm not even kidding! It's so crispy, fried to perfection and simply delicious.

Going in the night and in the day is really different but I really enjoyed both times with two different companies that mean so much to me!

Bernard and I ended the night at theCOMMONS with some beer from The Beer Cap located at the ground floor, they have a pretty nice selection of craft beers and cider!

The Laneway Market

Exploring Tanjong Katong was very exciting because it felt like home. I use to be an east-sider, well at least for 10 years! I've heard a ton about The Laneway Market so Bernard and I decided to pop by randomly before work since we were driving that day.

I was swooning over their interior and decor.. it's super on point, I love it!

They recently changed their menu so we gave the new items a try and I have to say that it's super amazing. We ordered the Farmer's platter which has consist of meat like ham and sausages but the winner was the chilli cheese beef by the side, SO GOOD.. as well as the Sous Vide Eggs - 64 degrees slow-cooked eggs with random stuff like hash brown and lobster bits. Their cold brew wasn't too bad either but i'd prefer the one at Old Hen!

Good food, free parking and the loveliest interior, this is definitely a place worth coming back for!

Kyle's birthday

Lunch at Kith Cafe to celebrate Kyle's birthday! Major yums, love their crab meat pasta ~

Happy birthday Kylerrrs x Thank you for being a constant in my life whom I can count on and trust all these years.

"The most beautiful discovery true friends make, is that they can grow separately without growing apart." Half a decade and counting with this bunch, fifth time celebrating Kyle's birthday. That day was like good old times, just the usual few of us!

Cold brew - CSHH & Old Hen

Old Hen Coffee Bar

Old Hen has become one of my weekly hangs more recently! Situated along Rangoon Road, it is super popular for their signature cold brew. I love it super super super much, it's very creamy and milky. It's a good try even for non-coffee lovers. We were feeling hungry that day too so we gave their croque monsieur a try - honey baked ham, béchamel and cheese! Can't get any better that this?? Even the side salad was good.

Chye Seng Huat Hardware

This place needs no further introduction, one of the pioneers of the cafe scene in Singapore. We ordered the cold brew coffee, this time it's black coffee and it's too bitter for my liking. Add some sugar syrup and milk for better taste! oh but the truffle popcorn I tell you.. to die for. Lightly salted with the substantial hint of truffle oil, mm.

Paddy Hills

Bernard and I have been really into exploring new places especially after obtaining my driver's license since we get to travel to super ulu places and Paddy Hills is one of these places! This place is superb... beautiful interior (one of my favourites for a cafe), great variety of dishes on the menu and super instagram worthy hahahaha!

The pinkish lemonade was super refreshing and one of the best thing I've tasted after a 45 minutes wait lul, perfect start to lunch.

So my friend recommended that I should try the berry ricotta hotcakes and I was super skeptical about it because the last time I had something similar was at Strangers Reunion and it was so bad?! It only look really pretty because it was so colourful and beautifully plated but I'm so so so happy to say that the one I had at Paddy Hill was so nice!! It was not just nice to look at but tasted so good as well :') super crispy at the sides while fluffy on the inside, just the way I like it. Definitely surpassed both our expectations #noragrets!

Kimchi fried rice for $20, if my mum came with me she'd probably skin me cause she can cook this dish better (and my mother isn't even one who steps into the kitchen btw but when it comes to kimchi fried rice, she's a culinary prowess). I liked this dish though, the steak was cooked to perfection and the sous vide egg + kimchi really complemented the fried rice.

I'm coming back to try the entire menu (I'M NOT KIDDING! Bernard stared at me when I said so, hahaha I can kiss my London savings goodbye just to chill here every weekend). This place is worth the 45 mins wait, I simply love it! This is going to be my new favourite cafe I will revisit over and over again (Bernard and friends, pls take note ^_^)

FINALLY FRIDAY and I'm drowning in my first assignment of the term. Can't wait for the weekends!! We're going to watch the Men's Hockey Sea Games Finals yayers!

Oh and btw, new hair color! What do you guys think?
