Dinner with Aric & Carissa

For 1 week straight, we meet up with Carissa and Aric at least 4 times.. here's a few places we dined at!

Hua Nam Restaurant

This is so weird, we've hanged around Upp Thomson for years now and only indulge in the usuals like Meng's Kitchen but have never tried Hua Nam Restaurant. Joan was the one that brought me here to try their super good duck porridge (not in picture) and after that visit, we'd come back to try their dim sum and tze char - thumbs up for every dish served in this authentic restaurant.

Boston Seafood Shack (Revisited)

My fourth time at Boston Seafood shack and of course it didn't disappoint! They offer such good lunch and dinner deals like 1-for-1 / 50% off second main and $1.60 for the mussels via the Sugar app (good things are meant to be shared, you're welcome).

La Petite Cuisine (Revisited)

k this is my ultimate favourite on the list, my FAVOURITE diner!! La Petite Cuisine!! I love French food and this is the most affordable mouthgasm experience ~~ Must tries: Foie Gras & Prawn Ravioli, Duck confit, Crab meat pasta and their steak!

After School Adventures #3

It's back to school for Bernard and I since two weeks ago ~~ Almost every once a week after school, we'd take a break and go chill at some cafe.. Here's two that we visited over the past two weeks and also a slight continuation from my #afterschooladventures blog posts : )

Strangers Reunion (revisited)

We are definitely no stranger to this cafe having visited this place more than we should (their service seriously sux) but this time when we went, it was a whole different customer service experience. The carpark I usually park at (directly opposite) was closed and it was raining cats and dogs so we had to park rlly far and share an umbrella with our shoes all soaked... not a good start but I love how they made sure we were dry and etc before starting our meal. The girl serving us was super duber nice!!

I'm not a huge salmon fan but every time I visit Stranger's, I have to eat their house smoked salmon eggs benedict. Yes, it sounds like another typical cafe food dish but this one comes with feta cheese, walnut crumble, salad and sultana bread. They also don't have the unconventional hollandaise sauce and that's what makes this dish so super special - it's actually crafted hazelnut béarnaise!

Béarnaise sauce: Béarnaise sauce is a sauce made of clarified butter emulsified in egg yolks and white wine vinegar and flavored with herbs.

ok truth be told lar, I came here for the sole purpose of trying their berry ricotta hotcakes that all the pops bloggers are raving about and i'm so damm sad to say that IT SUCKS. I don't know why all the reviews are like "it's so good! you have to try it!!". It literally tasted like cake mixed topped off with beautiful berries, seeds and vanilla ice cream ~.~

One Man Coffee

I've heard so much about One Man, walked passed way too many times but finally decided to give it a try! I have to say their ham & cheese croissant and coffee did not disappoint. The atmosphere was chilled and laid back, literally my ideal definition of a perfect noon ^_^

Happy mid week!! eh no it's Thursday already, yasssss one day closer to Friday!!

Remembering Lee Kuan Yew

It has been three weeks since the passing of our Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kwan Yew. Life should have return to normal but yet the tinge of sorrow still lingers in the air of Singapore. Bernard and I took the chance to visit the Parliament House (as well as Tanjong Pagar CC) to say our farewells but queues were suspended. We waited for a few hours but we had no choice but to lay our flowers at the designated spot which was directly opposite the Parliament House. While walking there, we observed the queue, the security check points, the volunteers and the atmosphere at 3 am in the morning. My heart was heavy, my eyes were brimming. We laid our flowers, faced the parliament house and said a short prayer for him. We hope that he is in a better place.

Never thought I'd get emotional over a man I've never had a chance to meet. Over that week, I cried more tears than I usually should for the loss of a man I have utmost respect for. He was the sun to our land, the life to Singapore and now the nation mourns for our loss. Mr Lee, we wish you never left us but you live in our hearts and we will always remember your vision, contributions and hardwork. May you rest in eternal peace sir, thank you for all that you've done.

Universal Studios Singapore (USS)

How do 8 people survive a full day of fun with minimal sleep after a night of partying?? We don't. We were all almost dead by 10 pm. Well, don't mind the overload of pictures!

If there was one thing that helped us get through the day apart from good company and adrenaline, it would have to be FOOOOOOOD! When it comes to Universal Studios, my first thoughts are the churros, kick-ass pizza, long forgotten mini melts and the fruit punch. Ok and the roller coasters. Sadly though, the battle star galactica is still under renovation :-(

*squeals* such a cute boy!! (not you Kenneth)

Super sian, we were the first few in line for the Jurassic Park ride and we were literally on the boat already when all of a sudden . . . lightning risk! UGH super sad! That was like 6 pm in the evening and they didn't even bother reopening the ride since the park closes at 8 pm AND IT DIDN'T EVEN RAIN!

And of course a visit to USS will not be complete without visiting the souvenir shops. There is a new shop called Minion Mart and omg everything was soooo cuteeeee (and expensive)!!

It's ALWAYS a good time with this bunch x

Can't believe a few of us had sufficient energy to get our Korean BBQ cravings fixed after USS haha! We all went again a week later! Love you gais ^_^
